Acid Reflux

In the spring of 200I turned 63 yrs. young with only two major health concerns, one of them being acid re_ ux. Many times food would stick in my esophagus, causing excruciating pain for hours on end. I had heartburn, pain in the upper abdomen and chest, a sick feeling, acid taste in the mouth, bloating, belching, and a burning pain when swallowing cold drinks. These symptoms tended to come and go, and tended to be worse after a meal. My wife, Marlene, made an appointment for me with a specialist. Reluctantly, I went. The doctor performed an esophagoscopy… a thin, tube-like instrument with a light and a lens for viewing my esophagus was put down my throat. He discovered stomach acid was eating away the esophagus, causing scar tissue, so much that now it needed to be stretched. After the procedure, he gave me a prescription for Prilosec™, or what we call “the purple pill”. (Nexium™ is another purple pill for this.) He said I will have to take one pill a day for the rest of my life as I will always have this problem. _ en, as if that wasn’t enough, he told me that if food ever gets stuck for too long it could rupture my esophagus and I could die. Once at home I decided that if I was going to have to take this “stuff ” for the rest of my life, I’d better know what it does. So I decided to read the little itty-bitty information pamphlet, you know — that one that has all those big words and very _ ne print. Prilosec’s™ side effects that are relatively common include things such as headaches, diarrhea, and dizziness. In most cases, side effects associated with Prilosec™ are minor, meaning that they require no treatment or may be easily treated. However, you should notify your healthcare provider immediately if you develop more serious side effects, such as depression, fever, or signs of allergic reaction. After reading all the side effects, I just could not believe that after never being to a doctor in my life, I now was going to have to endure taking that purple pill for the rest of my days. (By the way, a month’s supply was only going to cost $130.00.) Two and a half months after I started taking these purple pills, my wife Marlene heard Teresa Schumacher talk about acid reflux and what to do for it.

BarleyLife taken alone goes to the blood stream in seconds on an empty stomach. A person with acid reflux needs to get BarleyLife to the problem area and the way to do this is to use Composure to relax the whole body system and that irritated spot. I learned by combining 2 tsp. BarleyLife and 1 Tbsp. Herbal Fiberblend, and opening 4 Composure into this, I could get the nutrition into the area needed. I do this regimen twice a day (morning and evening). I have never taken the purple pills again.

Major Causes of Acid Reflux:
- Lack of enough fiber in the diet
